Meet Gerhard Moolman the Man Behind the Journey

On 1 December 2024, Gerhard embarked on an extraordinary challenge: crossing the Atlantic Ocean solo over 4,000 kilometers using a unique rowing machine mechanism to power the surf ski. This journey marks the first such feat and took 37 days to complete.

This unique endeavour follows his previous Guinness World Record  setting adventure in 2002, during which he paddled 6,152 kilometers from Hout Bay, South Africa, to Lamu, Kenya.

THE ROUTE

Cape Verde, state of West Africa in the central Atlantic Ocean to Cayenne, Cayenne is the capital of French Guiana, on the northeast coast of South America. The journey was 4020km in length and took 37 days of Rowing. At about 7km per hour.
